| MDS Harris Recruitment Campaign Receives American Marketing Association Award |
| June 2, 1999; Lincoln, Neb. - MDS Harris, a clinical research organization headquartered in Lincoln, Neb., received a 1999 Gold Star Merit Award from the Lincoln chapter of the American Marketing Association. The award was presented in recognition of the company's "Together, We're Making Lives Better" recruitment campaign.
The campaign, which consisted of television, radio, newspaper, and collateral materials, was developed in order to recruit study participants for clinical research. The campaign was employed in recruiting participants not only for studies at the Lincoln facility but also for studies conducted by MDS Harris around the world. The campaign's content highlighted how study participants assisting in clinical research help improve the quality of life for people around the world. "We wanted people to understand that by becoming a study participant they could help advance new medications and new delivery methods that would help people with arthritis, asthma, diabetes, or a host of other conditions," said Scott Logan, manager of global participant recruitment, MDS Harris. For clinical research organizations, recruiting is the number one challenge. A solid recruitment program, like the one at MDS Harris, means studies will begin full and on time. The recruitment program at MDS Harris includes a state-of-the-art call center, full-time staff, physician referral networks, and community outreach programs - not to mention aggressive advertising programs such as the award-winning "Together, we're making lives better." "When we introduced the theme in our recruiting campaign last fall, we felt it would help us communicate positive information about MDS Harris, and at the same time, allow us to acknowledge how important study participants are to our mission," said Cinda Orr, vice president, marketing, MDS Harris. "The campaign has been very successful in enrolling new study participants. It has also helped educate the public and the community about our role in the drug development." MDS Harris has developed an active database of more than 100,000 study participants, consisting of both normal healthy and special populations.
